The Film and TV Import and Export Association Helps Push Internationalization of China's Film and Television Industry

On the afternoon of May 17th, the 15th China International Film and TV Program Exhibition held a series of activities on the The Road to Internationalization of Chinese Film and Television - The FTIEA Series Activities" to discuss in depth the topics such as joining hands to go abroad. Guo Weimin, deputy director of the State Council Information Office, attended the ceremony and gave an opening speech for the event.

  Guo Weimin pointed out: "Since the party's 18th National Congress, under the strong leadership and unified deployment of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, the Chinese culture has gone steadily into the fast lane of 'going out' and its cultural confidence has become even more evident, Chinese and foreign cultural exchanges are becoming increasingly frequent and deep and the scale and number of cultural exports have risen rapidly. Among them, the importance of film and television works in telling Chinese stories, disseminating Chinese values, and establishing national image is becoming increasingly prominent."

   Ma Li, director of the International Cooperation Department of the SARFT, said in the speech that the FTIEA has made great achievements in the creation of internationalized film and television contents, the construction of international film and television exchange and trading platform, and the joint participation at the overseas film and television festivals and exhibitions, built a cluster of Chinese film and television culture import and export companies and created the '1+1>2' polymerization effect. We shall acclaim this innovative thinking of 'joining hands to go abroad.

Tang Shiding, Vice President of China International Television Corporation, released the future work plan of the FTIEA, emphasizing that the FTIEA should recommend to the world more excellent film and television cultural works with Chinese characteristics, Chinese spirit and Chinese wisdom, upgrade the stance, and strengthen the role of culture; we should work together to create a cluster of the film and television culture import and export; enhance the cohesion of the FTIEA through pragmatic cooperation.

In November 2017, the FTIEA was formally established. Its establishment provided a platform guarantee for the vast majority of film and television production organizations to go abroad. After six months of development, the FTIEA achieved practical results in the creation of international film and TV contents, the construction of international film and television exchange platform, and the joint participation at overseas film festivals and exhibitions and created a cluster of Chinese film and television import and export companies.

At the event on the day, three organizations, i.e., Beijing Jingxi Culture & Tourism Co., Ltd., China International Cartoon & Animation Festival Office, and Haining Base Administrative Committee of China (Zhejiang) Experimental Area for International Cooperation of Film and TV signed the contract with CITVC to join the FTIEA. So far, the number of members of the FTIEA has reached 53. In addition, agreement signing activity between CITVC and Ciwen Media Co., Ltd. to jointly promote the TV drama "All out of love" overseas and other signing activities were held at site.

In the series of activities, the film and television companies that were awarded the key national cultural export enterprises and projects for 2017-2018 were awarded certificates.

In the second half of the event, "The Road to Internationalization of Chinese Film and Television - The FTIEA Series Activities High-end Forum" was held. Presided by Li Xingwen, a well-known media professional in China, Charles Hirschhorn, president of AEG, Ma Zhongjun, president and CEO of Ciwen Media Co., Ltd., Hou Hongliang, president of Daylight Entertainment and Ying Xujun, vice president of Chinese Culture Group together discussed and proposed suggestions for China's film and television works to go to the international stage.

Zhang Yanbin, director of External Promotion Bureau of the CPC Central Committee's Publicity Department, Meng Dong, director of the Finance Department of the SARFT, Zhang Pukuan, director of the Logistics Service Bureau of the SARFT, and Xue Jijun, member of the CCTV Party member, chairman and president of the CITVC, attended the FTIEA series activities.
