"Golden Ribbon" Short Documentary International Co-production Project Holds 2018 Creation Workshop

On April 18, 2018, the opening ceremony for 2018 Creative Workshop of the “Golden Ribbon” Short Documentary International Co-production Project was held in Beijing’s Media Center, which marks official start of this event. Ms. Ma Li, Director of International Cooperation Department of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. She expressed the hope that all participants, following the principle of achieving shared growth through discussion and collaboration, can inherit and carry on the "Silk Road" spirit, improve the cooperation mechanism, broaden the channel of communication, help all the countries involved to embark on a path of common development in mutual respect and understanding, mutual appreciation and recognition. Ms. Shen Jianing, Assistant President of China International Television Corporation and General Manager of China Radio, Film and Television Programs Exchanging Center, gave a welcome speech for the opening ceremony. She expressed welcome to the arrival of the creators and looked forward to a full exchange of ideas and progress for these producers. She also expressed the hope that everyone can jointly tap the Silk Road stories on the platform of “Golden Ribbon” to disseminate the common cultural elements to the world film and television market through transnational cooperation, and further allow audiences from different countries to experience the same artistic infection and spiritual shock.

During the Workshop, the event explainer explained the "Golden Ribbon" Short Documentary International Co-Production Project in detail, expounded the style and form of short video production in detail, and organized the participants to watch the sample together. Well-known international producers and experts in the industry were divided into several groups to answer questions of creative teams from different countries one on one and discussed with the creators in various aspects such as topic selection, creation style, and production budget. The creators of various countries interpreted their proposals, communicated with other creators on the topic selection of creation and direction of creation, and completed the creation forms on site.

At the end of 2017, Silk Road Media Community and Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union jointly initiated the "Golden Ribbon" Short Documentary International Co-Production Project. Since the launch of the project, it has been actively responded to and participated in by the television production and broadcast organizations in the countries and regions along the "Belt and Road", those in Asia in particular. The Workshop was held to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas among the major creators in various countries, to fully tap the cultural connotation and humanistic spirit of the “Belt and Road” initiative, and to make positive contributions to the integrative development and common prosperity of the Silk Road film and television culture industry.

The Workshop was a two-day event and attracted more than 30 creation representatives from 14 countries and regions.
