From April 10 to 12, the delegation of the State Administration of Radio and Television went to Lisbon and Porto for exchange of Chinese and Portuguese film and television programs.

On April 11, the Exchange Meeting of Chinese and Portuguese Film and Television Programs was held in Lisbon. This is the first time that the Chinese delegation has held a television program special promotion and exchange activity in Portugal. Representatives of four first-tier film and television companies in China, including China International Television Corporation and China Radio, Film and Television Programs Exchanging Center, and representatives of four mainstream media organizations in Portugal gathered together to discuss the results of international cooperation in film and television programs between China and Portugal and the future direction of film and television programs development in the two countries. Our company mainly promoted the TV series The Courtyard, the documentary China’s Mega Projects 3 and the cartoon Panda and Little Mole, and had an in-depth exchange with the delegates.

Yang Zheng, deputy director of the Department of TV Programs, State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television, elaborated on the status quo of China's television program industry and plans for international cooperation. Portuguese representatives showed Portuguese film and television programs, introduced the creation and characteristics of the programs. The meeting was held in a practical and harmonious atmosphere. Yang Zheng mentioned that China broadcasted Portuguese television program in 2004, but did not broadcast any Portuguese television program in the ten more years later. Moreover, Chinese television program had never been broadcasted in Portugal. He hoped to promote mutual understanding and enhance people-to-people cultural exchanges through the exchange and broadcast of each other’s television programs, to further achieve cultural integration and emotion sharing. Delegates expressed the hope that such exchange activities can be conducted frequently and that more and deeper cooperation activities can be carried out with China in the future.

During the visit of Porto TV Station, our company had an in-depth discussion with the chief of the Porto TV Station and the head of the channel on the cooperation on the Chinese program period, and reached an agreement on the broadcast frequency, program type, broadcast duration, and program translation & production. The cooperation agreement will be signed as soon as possible for the early realization of the broadcast of Chinese programs in Portugal.

The exchange on film and television programs with Portuguese media organizations has deepened mutual understanding and laid a good foundation for future cooperation between the two sides.
