2018-04-13 09:17

On April 2, 2018, Tang Shiding, vice president of China International Television Corporation, led a delegation to visit Brazil REDE TV, and the two sides entered into the intention of cooperation, agreeing to open "China Hour" during prime time on evenings from Monday to Friday on the REDE TV.

REDE TV is one of Brazil's five largest radio stations as well as the first HD channel of Brazil. The two sides agreed to cooperate in the translation of fine Chinese programs into Portuguese, which would be broadcast after localized packaging. The ratings will cover 94% of Brazilian audiences with a fixed audience of over 200 million. The first batch of dubbing programs provided by the corporation will be broadcast for 260 hours and will start broadcasting within the year.

This is the first time that China has set up “China Hour” in mainstream media in Latin America. Before this, few Chinese film and TV programs were broadcast locally. These hours will bring more Chinese programs that are more excellent and more contemporary to Brazilian audiences, greatly increasing the influence of Chinese film and TV programs in Brazil and promoting cultural exchanges between countries along the “Belt and Road” and between their people.

At present, China Hour, China Channel, and China New Media special for Chinese programs commercialized by China International Television Corporation in overseas operations have covered 11 countries in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.
