Significant Effect of the 2018 Chinese New Year Culture Promotional Event in UK

On February 13th 2018, China International Television Corporation(CITVC) held a Chinese new year culture promotional event for the TV program China Hour in the UK. more than 100 guests from British government, commerce and media were invited. Jin Xu, the minister counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in UK, gave a new year speech. He highly evaluated China Hour for its outstanding contribution to the promotion of cultural exchanges between China and the United Kingdom. Many worldwide distinguished guests were also invited to promote the live show of 2018 CCTV Spring Festival Gala in the UK, such as British rock band the Hoosiers; Ms. Fizina, supervisor of the China UK Film Fund; and Ben Chaplin, leading actor of BBC TV showApple Tree Yard.

At the event, a promotional video by the Hoosiers was played, as well as the trailer of a documentary namedA Bite of Lunar New Year”, which will be shown onChina Hoursoon. During the spring festival, advertisements of China Hour will be published on Times Magazine and China Report, covering more than 1.5 million readers. Meanwhile, the Hoosier video will be played on the CITVC YouTube official account China Zone”, to introduceChina Houras well as Chinese spring festival culture to more international audience.

So far, CITVC has given authorizations to 14 organizations in Asia, Europe, North America, Africa and the Middle East, to broadcast the 2018 Spring Festival Gala in Chinese, Japanese, English and Arabic. Some of the organizations belong to the Belt and Road Media Community.
