"China Hour" was officially launched in the British Sky TV

        On December 6, as the supporting activity of "The Fourth Meeting of Sino-British High-level Humanities Exchange Mechanism", the launch ceremony of the program of "China Hour" which was opened by the TVPMD of China International Television Corporation / China Radio, Film and Television Programs Exchanging Center in Sky TV was held in Shanghai. Tong Gang, deputy director of SAPPRFT and some representatives of "The Fourth Meeting of Sino-British High-level Humanities Exchange Mechanism" attended this ceremony. Mr. Yan Chengsheng, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation of SAPPRFT, and Mr. Huo Jiakai, Minister Counselor of the British Embassy in Beijing, delivered congratulations on the launching of this program and pointed out that the launching of this program marked a milestone in Sino-UK cultural cooperation and that it will play an important role in promoting the exchanges as well as integration of two civilizations and enhancing friendship between two countries.
       
Ms. Zhang Lin, deputy director of China Radio, Film and Television Programs Exchanging Center, said that CITVC would cooperate with Deutsche Media on creating a new platform and a new window for cultural exchange between China and Britain and promoting the progress of cultural exchanges between two countries. Kevin Sui, chief executive officer of Deutsche Media, said that UK time slot was a groundbreaking project for China International Television Corporation. As a partner, Deutsche Media was proud to work together with the excellent team of China International Television Corporation and launch authoritative and original Chinese programs.
       
The China Hour program will be broadcast on the platform of Sky TV 's Showcase Channel from October 1, 2016. In every day, English dubbed documentaries, animation as well as tourism and cultural programs would be broadcast for two hours at that channel. It covers over 12 millions of Sky TV's users in the UK and over 3 million free satellites and IPTV subscribers. In Ireland and Europe, it covers more than 100 million users of Sky TV and free satellite. At present, many classical documentaries have been broadcast, including "A Bite of China", "Summer Palace", "Forbidden City", "Silk Road" and "Porcelain Road". In the pilot period of two months when no promotion activities has been organized, the effective users of this program has exceeded 1 million and the highest daily ratings reached to more than 90 thousand households. It has achieved good ratings and attracted the attention of advertisers. Some ads of fast moving consumer goods and public service have been broadcast on this time slot, laying a solid foundation for the next step to achieve commercial operation.
       
China International Television Corporation / China Radio, Film and Television Programs Exchanging Center has launched Hi-Indo! Channel in Indonesia as well as the general channel and documentary channel of the Hi-Cambo! Channel in Cambodia since 2015, and opened China Hour in South Africa, Czech Republic , The United Arab Emirates, Nepal and Vietnam. The launch of the British time slot is the first Chinese time slot launched in the mainstream media of developed countries. In addition, India's Hi-India! Channel, Myanmar time slot, Serbia time slot and Russia time slot will be launched in 2017.
